A Children’s Parliament consultation for the First Minister’s National Advisory Council on Women and Girls. Exploring the impact that gender stereotypes can have on play, choices, and future aspirations.
For this work, children aged between 4 and 6 explored the differences they feel exist between boys and girls. We hope that the Wee Ones Wee Circle report will encourage reflection and discussion about how we tackle gender inequality and make Scotland an equal, happy, healthy and safe place for all children to grow up; a place where they can be any kind of girl or boy they want to be.
The film below captures the participating Members of Children’s Parliament busily categorising toys into piles based on who they think may play with them.
